RTA Begins Real Estate Process for the Euclid Corridor Project

RTA has begun its Real Estate Process to secure rights-of-way along Euclid Avenue to construct and operate the anticipated Bus Rapid Transit System. Actual properties needed to build the system include a combination of easements. These are generally 10 to 12 feet of sidewalks or lawns within the rights-of way that will be used temporarily during construction or permanently for Bus Rapid Transit operations. About 197 easements and 78 temporary easements will be secured. Only a few properties or fee simples are required for acquisitions, all in the Midtown area.

Property owners within the Euclid Corridor impacted by the Project were sent announcements regarding the initial process and a list of consultants that will act on behalf of RTA, completing pre-acquisition and acquisition services.

Consultants awarded contracts include Utility Land Company, Inc., which will serve as the real estate program manager; O.R. Colan Associates, relocation consultant; Northland Research Corporation, appraisal services; PSI, Inc., environmental services; C.P. Bramen Company, appraisal review services; and Benesch, Friedlander, Coplan & Aronoff LLP, legal services. Wilbur Smith Associates, the prime consultant for final design, will provide right-of-way plats, mapping, and surveying.

RTA will work with community leaders and property owners throughout the next phases of the Project to acquire the partial and full property takes.
